Virtual Liver Network

The Virtual Liver Network, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research is a large consortium of 70 research groups, aiming at providing a systems biology representation of liver morphology and function with direct applications to the clinic. To do so, the VLN researchers are going to integrate quantitative data from all scales of liver organisation, ranging from the sub-cellular level, to the cellular and tissue level, up to the whole organ. These data will be fed into mathematical models that will be used in the future to predict the organ response to drugs and various disease conditions.
